I was sitting on the doorstep waiting for my brother, who’d gone just to grab some popcorn for us so that we could enjoy our movie tonight. The very movie we eagerly waited for 'The Detective', which was premiering tonight. The weather was getting to its peak, it was soon to rain. I could see our neighbours getting off their red hatchback. I greeted them but no response, perhaps I was too far to be heard or it was just the dull environment that day.
It had been 2 hours already but there was still no sign of him. I picked up my phone and dialled is number, but neither did it work. I assumed for the towers to be down because of the dense weather.
I was sure that if I had to watch the movie tonight, then I had to get the popcorn and my brother myself. I decided to start on foot I took an umbrella and my phone and began walking against the cold breeze. Before leaving, he had told me that he was going to GreenGros supermarket. The way was about a kilometre.
It was 6 in the evening; I had already been walking for half an hour and navigating had become difficult. A dense fog had covered up the streets. Nature was just not ready to let me enjoy my movie. I tried using my phone and it only had a 13% charge left! I quickly opened Google Maps and tried searching the route but again! No internet! This day surely couldn't get any worse! I slipped the phone into my pocket and searched for someone who could help. After walking a few steps, a shadow emerged. It hardly resembled a human. I thought it to be a large signboard, so I went near with the hope that it could guide me the way ahead. The fog was getting denser and the shadow became lighter. Soon, the shadow completely dissolved. I stopped for moving anywhere in here was foolishness. I took a deep breath. The fog just wasn't ready to get any better, I looked around but still nothing. It was 6:15 already, waiting any further would just be a waste of time. I decided to follow the street beneath me.
Slowly and steadily, I started moving ahead. A few steps later, the shadow emerged again. I tried getting closer to it. I moved consciously for I could see nothing in front. The shadow had started getting darker but it was still hard to identify. I kept moving. All of a sudden, it appeared as if the hadow was getting closer much faster than my speed. It was moving! It was heading towards me! I sprinted in the opposite direction.

After running for quite a while, I decided to look back at the shadow if it still chased me. There was nothing but fog. I was glad that I was free from the chase but now I was befuddled about where have I landed. Thunder! The rain began. I sat upon the road looking down seeing it turn wet. "My day had started out so bright, the plans that my brother and I made for the day, all got shattered in an evening!" Argh! I yelled pushing back the water beneath my feet. I stood up and opened my umbrella, and looked everywhere for a sign, a symbol that could guide me where I was. I began walking along the edge of the road so that I could sense the surrounding. I walked a few meters until I sensed something hard touch my knee. I tried moving ahead, but thud! I tripped over and rolled down aside upon the wet road. I looked at it wondering what could it be.
I began analysing the object. It was hard and sturdy, as I felt it. On knocking it created a wood- like sound. With its bent-like structure, I could tell it was a bench. I examined it further for any engravings or a plate that could give me any information about the place. Aha! The bench belonged to North Head Park! It's just 100 meters away from GreenGros! I was glad that I have made it this far. Now, I just needed to know what part of the park I was standing at. Taking support of the bench I moved along its path. I held my umbrella in one hand and used the other to see where the bench ended. It ended upon a concrete pillar. On moving further, it was the entrance of the park! It opened to the main road that leads to GreenGros! Without wasting any more time, I began following it. Slowly, the fog had too started to fade away. Within no time, I had reached GreenGros, I rushed towards its main entrance with the hope that I will find my brother. Upon reaching the entrance, I noticed a sign. I began reading it and disappointment shook me. It was closed for the today due to bad weather. I was speechless. All efforts that I made had gone in vain. Between these moments of sadness, I heard the water on the road being stepped upon. As I turned back, there stood the very shadow in the fading fog but now with the resemblance of a human. It was still too dark to know who he was, I turned blank as the shadow stood in front of me. He raised his hand trying to approach me and went for my face. Before I could realize anything, everything turned white. "Are you ready for the movie tonight?", I heard my brother say, he was sitting right in front of me, in my room, at home. I saw through the window; it was bright as morning quot;A dream!" I laughed merrily. "What are you laughing about ", asked my brother in amazement. "Nothing, just a nightmare!", I replied getting to my feet. We moved down to the hall. "There's going to be a thunderstorm today", he said turning onto the news channel. That gave me chills for a while. I tried to recover from the nightmare and sat on our doorstep. I saw our neighbour fitting their bags into their red hatchback. "Good morning! Where are you heading to?", I questioned. "Just taking the family on a trip. And it's afternoon not morning!" "Have a good journey!", I said as I saw my brother come out. "I will be back in half an hour", he said moving towards the road. "Where are you going?", I asked nervously. "Just going to get some popcorn for us tonight." "Where?", I asked nervously. "GreenGros of course!", he replied. The nightmare was recalled in my head. Before he went any further, I stopped him and said, "How about we eat something other than popcorn? Something ore homemade?", I asked with an awkward grin. "Maybe we can, that will be something new! Great idea!", saying this he headed back to the house and I took a breath of relief. I am unsure of what I had seen in the dream, but I won't be risking my brother to get into that storm again.
