I was standing in the broad day light waiting for my friends to arrive when I remembered that I had not made the food for the day. Without panicking I started expanding myself in the direction of the sunlight so that my hands would be able to produce adequate food for the whole body. While the glucose was being stored as starch, my friend Mr. Apis Beecus arrived with yellow pollen on his feet and landed on the stigma surrounded by brightly coloured corolla. Not every day I saw the process involving the birth of a new life. Today was special. Today Mr. Apis Beecus stayed. In the mean time my friends Mr. and Mrs Chip Sciuridae and their children and had arrived. Mrs. Helianthus Sunflow, my neighbour had also finished her cooking. We saw our friends Hugh and Dew in the sky learning how to fly with their mother. All seemed perfect until I saw a human troubling my neighbour Ms. Mimosa. She was very shy. So, she curled her fingers and made a shell to protect herself. In this process the hands of the human were caught in it. The mother of the living soul came to his rescue only to realise that it was not possible to retrieve her offspring’s hand without cutting my friend’s fingers. Me and my friends tried to convince Ms. Mimosa to let it go but she didn’t listen. Mr. Chip Sciuridae tickled her legs and in response to this stimulus, she let go off the mortal’s hand. Half the day had passed by then. The winds were blowing from west to east instead of east to west and the birds were chirping the tune of the ‘Interstellar theme song’. It seemed like I was in heaven with my friends enjoying every moment of my life till it came to an end. I woke up from my imagination only to realise that the place where my forefathers had once lived had become barren and now there were buildings constructed for the accommodation of the new generations. I was the last of their noble lineage. I didn’t even grieve when they perished in the locust plague. My only hope of continuing this lineage had finished. And why would I want another life to bear all the misery that is yet to come? All my friends were sleeping peacefully. They were very naïve. Their innocence and their manners were praiseworthy. They all didn’t even think of the future and believed in enjoying every moment of the present.
Is this the world we created for our saplings? Is this what we wanted them to witness? All these questions muddled up in my roots. I prayed to Almighty Tulsi to end the suffering so that my civilisation blossoms into eternal bliss. While I was praying, my friends woke up. They consumed their snacks and got their energy. They started playing the game ‘fruit catch’. It is like normal catch game but instead of a ball we played with a fruit. In the windy weather, it was expected that we would get water today. It had been ages since we got water and our stored produce was also finishing at a rapid rate. When my hand got wet. At last! It was the water. We all quenched our thirst and stored some water for future food production. While all this was happening, I sensed a tiny cramp near my hand. The flower had now become a fruit and the outer layer of the fruit was cracking up for the seeds to escape. The seeds landed on the ground one by one and I bid them my final farewell. I wanted them to know that wherever they would be, I would always wish well for them. But one seed stayed with me. He being a mama’ s boy didn’t leave my side. He wanted to take care of me when I got old like I took care of him when he was in me. When the last drop of the shower poured down, my baby turned into a seedling. In the next few months, he had grown up to become a beautiful sapling. I had aged too. There were days when I thought that I would die today. But in desperation to see good accommodation for my children and grand- children, I waited.

One day, I saw that the buildings were demolished and in place of those, my green friends were being planted. The world had realised that the earth was aching and they finally started acting in the right direction for ours and their development. They housed me and my friends in a natural park that they called the ‘Tulsi Garden’, where me, my family and my friends used the precious resources in such a way that they satisfied our needs without endangering
the needs of the future generations. Although the living conditions were beyond one’s imagination, but my willingness to live had vanished. I had become old and my joints and bones in my legs had become fragile. All I longed was to peacefully rest myself in the gardens of the heaven. “Ms. Hibiscus Rosa will be remembered. I was proud to be her son. She only wished for a place where we all could exist happily. Being her only child present today, I declare that I would be my mother’s legacy by devoting myself to this community. I will make sure that our future generations would get what they rightfully deserve like my mother would want. May she find solace in the heavens above.” After giving the eulogy, Mr. HughHi Rosa saw the sky above and in the clouds, he saw his mother smiling at him graciously. Back in the heaven, Ms. Rosa met the other members of her family. She was relieved to meet them. Thereafter, Ms. Rosa became the personal advisor of the Almighty. She advised the Almighty in matters where the plant community was involved. She was happy to serve her community in heaven as well
