Once, there lived a nice boy named Rohan. He lived with his parents, grandparents, younger sister(who teased him a lot and whom he teased back)and elder brother in a big and beautiful-looking house on the edge of the city. In their backyard, there were lots of plants and trees but Rohan’s favourite one was a big, old tree which bore lots of fruit only once a year and its fruit was very sweet. His family used to pluck the fruits whenever they showed signs of ripening using innovative methods, like attaching a medium- sized plastic box to a bamboo stick. It was so much fun. For Rohan, that tree was like a friend. He took a lot of care of the tree and watered it every day without fail.
But there was a big problem. Many of the fruits were either being spoiled by squirrels and birds or were being plucked by other people. The squirrels and birds did not bother Rohan much as it was natural but other people plucking the fruits was a problem. To make sure that this would not happen anymore, he decided to protect the tree by putting a fence around it. One night, there was a big storm. Winds were blowing so fast they were howling. The trees were swinging and it was tough for any human to face these winds. Rohan was at his house and everything was dark as the electricity was cut off. He was trying to sleep when he had a horrible thought that his tree must be out there facing the storm. He got very worried. He hoped it could stand the fury of these winds. His dad said that trees can even fall in such storms. Rohan got even more worried. He rushed to the window to see his tree. It was dark and he could not see properly. He used his mom’s phone to switch on a torch and tried to peek from the glass pane to see his tree. Thankfully the tree was there standing tall and swinging in the. Rohan was relieved. However, another thought struck him that tree’s fruits must be falling like rain and getting spoiled. He tried to go outside to check but his parents stopped him.

Keeping his fingers crossed and with a heavy heart, he went back to sleep. The next morning, when he went outside, he saw that the tree’s fruits were spread all over the ground, along with some of the tree’s branches. On seeing this, Rohan was very sad.
A couple of days later, when he was having a nap under the tree, Rohan woke up and saw a boy plucking the fruits from the tree. He was about to call his parents when he saw that the boy was very poor as his clothes and hair were in a very bad condition. Also, the boy was very thin, his face was looking pale and he looked as if he was having very little meals. So, Rohan decided to let the boy pluck the fruits. Soon, he forgot about the incident. Some 2-3 years later, Rohan had become a teenager, doing little things here and there for people in his neighbourhood to earn some more pocket money. One day, he was coming back home from college when he found out that his mother was really sick and that his father had asked him to buy some medicines from the pharmacy. So, he ran like greased lightning to the pharmacy, bought the medicines his father had asked for, and ran home. But on the way, he suddenly tripped and the strips of tablets scattered all over the place. He started picking them up as fast as he could but there were too many of them. Suddenly someone came towards him and started collecting the strips for him. Rohan realized that he had seen him before but he was unable to remember when or where. When he looked at the person’s face, he realised that it was the boy who he had seen plucking the fruits and had let him do so. Rohan thanked the boy for helping him collect the strips, and then rushed home. When he reached home and gave the medicines to his mother, he sighed with relief thinking that if that boy had not helped him, Rohan would not have reached home on time and his mother might have not been alive.
