Once there lived two friends, William and George. They were friends ever since they were born. They loved doing things together. They went on adventures, hiking and always sticked together. They studied in the same school, lived in the same street and their homes were right next to each other. One day they decided to go on a long journey to another place to look for a new job. So, they packed up all their clothes, books, money and some food with a bottle of water. Their family gave them a loving farewell and they left for the journey.
The journey went smoothly for the first few days. They had left the cities and were crossing through a forest when William started to grow thirsty, he was going to drink water when George said, “We have a long way to go my friend. We cannot just drink all the water like that.” But William did not listen and just said, “I am sure that there is a river flowing somewhere, just do not worry.” George got angry and both were fighting about it but when they stopped, all the water was gone. George was furious that he slapped William in the face. William raged with anger and wrote on the soil ‘My friend slapped me in the face’. They continued their long journey in the forest. After many days, finally reached a river. Both of their faces were full of joy. They quickly refilled both their bottles. They were sweating and drained out so they took a wash in the river. It was refreshing and cold and the two of them were joyful. The river was deep and was near a water fall. They did not notice that the river’s current was growing stronger and stronger. That is when William was not concentrating and tripped into the water. He was drowning and the river was forcefully dragging him to the water fall. He was at the edge of being dragged down the water fall when, George grabbed his weak and skinny arms and held onto him. After holding on for so long, George finally pulled William up.

They both got out of the water all tired and drained again and they rested under a huge tree. When they woke up, they continued their journey. After many days, they met a grizzly bear which was walking towards them. Both of them did not know how to climb trees or did not have any place to hide. Then George said, “Lay down on your stomach and play dead. For bears do not eat dead bodies.” Both of the friends played dead and the bear sniffed them and thought they were dead. Both of them luckily survived and escaped the bear.
Before they continued, they plucked a few fruits from the trees and slept under the shade of a tree. They were woken by the sound of crackling branches. Both of them thought it was an animal. But George looked up and pulled William out of the tree’s shade. A heavy, large branch fell where they were taking a rest. Both sighed a breath of relief. Just before they left William took a small piece of stone and went to a large rock. George called to him, “Come on William, we have to continue our journey.” When William got up, George saw what his friend wrote. ‘My friend saved my life three times’. William said, “What I wrote on the soil long ago would have been erased by now. But what I wrote on this rock will never be erased forever.” Both friends were overwhelmed and hugged each other and continued their journey. Both reached a city and after many years of hard work both became merchants who had shops right next each other.
